If you’re a gin lover, you might want to sample the new tipple from Two Moons, inspired by a humble ingredient that’s long been a staple in the region.

Hong Kong’s craft gin scene continues to innovate with a new release from one of its leading producers. The new Ginger Gin from Two Moons, Hong Kong’s multi-award-winning craft gin brand, takes its inspiration from a humble ingredient deeply woven into everyday life in Chinese culture.

A Root With Heritage

Sometimes subtle, sometimes bold — seemingly ordinary yet irreplaceable — ginger has long held a familiar presence not just at Asian tables, but in the region’s cultures and languages. Through this spirit, Two Moons celebrates its integral role in shaping daily life, gently threading people together.

As the old Cantonese culinary proverb goes: “Fish cannot do without ginger; meat cannot do without sauce.” Across cooking traditions, ginger appears in many forms, from finely julienned slices over steamed fish to a soulfully pounded ginger-scallion sauce, reflecting its remarkable versatility.

Beyond everyday cooking, ginger extends into Cantonese traditions and language, quietly weaving through moments in life. It appears in vinegared pig’s trotters traditionally prepared to celebrate a newborn’s arrival; in the ginger tea served with glutinous rice balls during the Lantern Festival, bringing warmth to family gatherings; and in the home remedy “boiled cola with ginger”, long associated with comfort during seasonal chills.

In Cantonese slang, ginger further connotes courage, wit, and playfulness. Expressions such as “the older the ginger, the spicier it gets” speak to the wisdom that comes with age, while “having enough ginger” (Gau Geung) signifies audacious boldness and “local ginger” champions home-grown, pioneering talent. This multifaceted, ever-present nature of ginger reflects Two Moons’ belief in creating spirits rooted in culture, craft and shared human experience, quietly accompanying everyday life.

The Latest Innovation

Two Moons has previously released an array of acclaimed gins, including its Signature Dry Gin, Calamansi Gin, and Five Flowers Tea Gin, each shaped by a distinct flavour and cultural inspiration, crafted to connect people through shared moments.

For this latest chapter, the distillery spotlights ginger as a quiet constant across meals, traditions and shared rituals. With the new spirit, crafted with a blend of both fresh and dried yellow ginger alongside layered botanicals, gin fans will discover a softly spiced and warming flavour profile with a gentle depth and a long, elegant finish.

Where to Discover It

To celebrate the debut of Ginger Gin, Two Moons partners with three notable bars in Central — Kinsman, 25:00 (Twenty Fifth Hour), and ZZURA. From 24 June 2026, the collaboration presents six cocktails that celebrate ginger and Cantonese culture, each offering a different interpretation of its character and complexity.

At each venue, experience ‘Moon Post’ — a simple ritual of handwritten notes passed from one stranger to another. Mirroring ginger’s role as a silent companion in everyday life, each note shares a passing thought or a heartfelt greeting, leaving a quiet sense of connection that lingers even after the glass is emptied.
